Dr Ali Schwarz DC

Ali’s interest in chiropractic began in her early teens due to crippling shoulder pain. As a competitive swimmer and with butterfly being her main stroke, the shoulder pain was having a huge impact on her training and future Olympic dreams.  After a year of trying everything to fix it, she was still in a lot of pain and there were times when she couldn’t move her right arm.  Her swimming coach suggested she try a chiropractor.

She got her first adjustment poolside just before a state final where she swam pain-free for the first time in over a year and took a substantial amount of time off her personal best.

“From that day, I knew I was going to be a chiropractor.”

Ali completed an Exercise Science degree at RMIT in Melbourne and then moved to Auckland to study at the New Zealand College of Chiropractic.  It was there that she gained a deeper knowledge and appreciation of how the body works, how interconnected everything in the body is and how to work with the body instead of against it.

Ali worked in a practice in Melbourne before she moved to Edinburgh in 2016 and now considers Edinburgh home.  She has a great interest in caring for mums-to-be (Ali is certified in the Webster Technique) and children but enjoys seeing people of all ages!  She is also particularly interested in gut health and the effects stress has on the body.

When she’s not working Ali can be found travelling, cooking (especially vegan cheesecake, raw chocolate or paleo food) or just exploring Scotland.  Ali also loves learning and is a self-confessed coffee snob.
